WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FIBRE BROADBAND & PURE FIBRE?
Fibre Broadband & GFast Fibre Broadband is delivered to UK premises on a mixture of copper and fibre. This infrastructure is known as FTTC. A fibre optical cable runs from the internet exchange to a street cabinet. Then, a copper cable runs from the street cabinet to your home, providing you with fibre broadband. GFast works the same on the same infrastructure however, the street cabinet has a special pod that boosts the broadband connection over the copper cable, resulting in higher speeds.
Pure Fibre is delivered on fibre optical cables directly from the internet exchange to your door. It does not run on a mixture of copper and fibre, it is one single fibre pathway directly to the internet. Have a read of our blog which compares FTTC vs FTTP and explains why FTTP is better for gaming.
