OUTBREAK: An Open-World Call of Duty Zombies Mode Is On Its Way
Since its first appearance in Call of Duty: World at War, Zombies has always been a huge part of the Call of Duty (CoD) franchise. Across the different CoD titles, we have seen a variety of modes, maps and game styles, however according to several leaks, Zombies is about to go bigger than it has ever been before.
Coming from the very reliable insider, @Okami13_, Treyarch are working on a new Zombies mode that goes by the name of Outbreak. According to Okami, the new Outbreak mode will feature “Treyarch style, co-op Zombies on a large-scale Fireteam map” and has heard it described as an “open world Zombies”. So far, Treyarch have not made any comments on this mode nor has anything been officially confirmed, so at the moment, everything needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
No-one is 100% sure what to expect from the term “open world Zombies”, but it has definitely got everyone excited. There are endless possibilities for what Treyarch could have in store for us. Could Outbreak be similar to Dayz where players find themselves in a zombie infested world where they are required to loot and craft items to survive? Maybe Outbreak could be some sort of standalone Zombies battle royale? No-one is quite sure what is coming, however, it is without a doubt going to be epic.
Alot of Zombies fans have felt as though they were left in the dark with Black Ops Cold War with the lack of content provided. As opposed to previous Call of Duty titles, only one Zombies map was available at launch and it wasn’t until just recently the second map, Firebase Z, was released. Perhaps the new Zombies Outbreak mode is what is causing a lack of content with regards to Zombies and hopefully once it is released, it is worth the wait.
From what has been announced and released so far in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, all DLC content has been free for everyone, so it is fair to expect Outbreak mode to be free to download and play too.
